The new time trial bike developed with UAE Team Emirates-XRG

Unveiled in summer 2026 and launched in competition at the Tour of Switzerland, the Colnago TT2 marks a new generation of time trial bikes for the Italian brand Colnago. Developed in close collaboration with UAE Team ADQ and UAE Team Emirates-XRG, this new project was born from a simple reality: modern time trials no longer resemble those of ten years ago.

Today’s courses alternate between fast sections, accelerations, technical segments, climbs, and uphill finishes. In this context, aerodynamics alone is no longer enough. Weight, stability, rider position, and handling now play a decisive role in final performance.

It is precisely to address this evolution that Colnago designed the TT2, a completely new platform developed around the needs of the world’s best riders, including Tadej Pogačar.

A new generation of time trial bike

The TT2 is not a simple evolution of the TT1. Its architecture has been completely redesigned to simultaneously improve the main performance parameters.

Experience gained with the TT1, as well as the aerodynamic work carried out during the development of the Colnago Y1Rs, allowed engineers in Cambiago to create a lighter, faster, and more versatile platform.

The goal was not only to save time in the wind tunnel, but to deliver higher speed in real race conditions.

550 grams saved

One of the most significant improvements of the TT2 concerns its weight.

The complete frame kit—including frame, fork, seatpost, and integrated components—achieves a reduction of about 550 grams compared to the TT1.

To achieve this result, Colnago completely redesigned the frame architecture with simplified junctions, new load-path engineering, optimized carbon lay-up, and a fully redesigned fork.

This weight reduction improves acceleration, responsiveness, and performance on rolling courses, which now characterize many international time trials.

Even more efficient aerodynamics

Reducing weight could not come at the expense of aerodynamic efficiency.

The TT1 was already among the reference bikes in the WorldTour peloton in this area. Colnago engineers therefore used advanced CFD simulations and wind tunnel testing to optimize every area of the TT2.

The front of the bike received particularly deep development work, featuring a new narrower integrated cockpit, a fully redesigned fork, and a very slim head tube to reduce frontal area exposed to the wind.

According to Colnago, the TT2 delivers an aerodynamic gain of around 2 watts compared to the TT1 in real-world representative conditions.

More stability, more control

Speed is not determined only by aerodynamic drag.

Race conditions also require riders to manage crosswinds and constantly changing wind angles.

The TT2’s new aerodynamic profiles were developed to reduce lateral forces acting on the bike. Handling becomes more predictable and requires fewer trajectory corrections.

The result is improved high-speed stability and a greater ability to maintain an aerodynamic position throughout the effort.

A redesigned geometry for modern positions

The Colnago TT2 frame also features a completely revised geometry.

Developed with performance specialists from UAE Team Emirates-XRG and UAE Team ADQ, it offers greater adjustment options to meet modern time trial demands.

Available in XS, S, M, and L sizes, it introduces a new XS size and a revised stack/reach distribution to help riders achieve optimal positioning without extreme setups.

The new integrated cockpit further improves adjustability, allowing each rider to achieve a sustainable, efficient, and aerodynamic position.

A fully integrated performance system

Development of the TT2 was not limited to the frame.

Colnago also designed a new Aero Bottle system specifically for this project. UCI-compliant, this aerodynamic bottle integrates directly into the bike’s architecture to optimize airflow in a particularly sensitive area.

The system uses Fidlock® magnetic technology to ensure quick and secure handling during races.
